Born in Harrison Co., IN on Dec. 29, 1832 to parents Jefferson Seacat (Jan. 26, 1807 – Dec. 17, 1889) and Elizabeth English Pennington (Jul. 4, 1812 – May 11, 1897); father buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Winfield, Cowley Co., KS; mother buried in Flower Point Cemetery, Alton, Crawford Co., IN; siblings: Martha (b. 1834), Nancy (1836-1929), Peter (1837-1899), Mariah Crecelius (1839-1916), Joseph (1841-1931), Elizabeth (1843-1920), Amanda Whaley (1845-1923), Matthew (1847-1900), Sarah (b. 1849), Dennis Larkin (1851-1863), Mahala (b. 1856), and Martin (b. 1862).
