Obituary for Kathy Smith

Kathy Smith, 59, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton, Missouri.
She was born April 12, 1962 in Centralia, the daughter of Kenneth Lambert and Alvera (Roethemeyer) Lambert. She married Norman Smith on May 28, 1983 and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 38 years, she is also survived by her two children: Kristi Smith and fiancé Anthony Brooks of Centralia and Brian Smith and wife Kim of Centralia; four grandchildren: Elijah, Grant, Natalie, and Lauren and her bonus granddaughter: Isabelle; her four siblings: Marsha Lambert Cook of Centralia, Jeff Lambert of Centralia, Audrey Lambert Durall of Odin, and Mark Lambert of Belleville; brother-in-law: William Harris of Centralia; sisters-in-law: Pam Smith of Xenia, Brenda Snow and husband James of Dix, and Glenda Burwell of Dix; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Velma Akes and husband Butch of Xenia; special cousin: Doug Lambert of Centralia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her special friend: Karla Jackson of Centralia and her work family and numerous friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Alvera Lambert, three sisters: Brenda Atchison, Crystal Harris and Carolyn Sue Martin, and a niece: Mary Howard.
Kathy was a graduate of the Centralia High School Class of 1980. She worked at Crain, Miller, and Wernsman, Ltd. in Centralia for 40 years as a Legal Assistant. She enjoyed working with her colleagues. She was a member of City Hope Church in Centralia.
Kathy was an avid bowler for many years and she even had her name on the list at Banks Bowl for the All Time Best Score List. The beach was her favorite place to sit back and relax. She also enjoyed laying by her pool, every now and then playing video poker machines and going on Cruises. Her family was her life, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Every Christmas she would have the grandchildren and family over to bake Christmas cookies. Kathy was a very caring, giving and loving person and will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services for Kathy Smith will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Seth Baltzell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Friends may call Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and also Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her grandchildren's college fund and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Smith Family.
