He was born February 3, 1951, in Warrensburg the son of Lester Hunt, Jr. and Lavina (Plute) Hunt.
He was the proud father of two sons, Bryan Wayne and Brent Allen.
On September 21, 2002, he and Wendy Elaine Jennings were united in marriage in the Perennial Garden Arbor at Powell Gardens.
Gary grew up in Warrensburg and was happy to be considered a "townie". He attended Warrensburg R-6 Schools. As a child, he spent time working in his family's retail dairy business where he could regularly be seen delivering milk to customers' homes. After purchasing the retail business himself, Gary continued to work in the dairy business until 2012.
At the time of his passing, Gary co-owned Warrensburg Quick Lube and Tire with his business partner Aaron Crisp whom he loved like a son. Gary was known for being friendly and kind and he enjoyed helping others out when he could. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle across the country or even around town for a "quick spin". When he wasn't riding, he was cooking up something delicious on his Blackstone or his Traeger. He was hard working, always on the go and lived every day to the fullest as we are not promised tomorrow. He enjoyed watching Brett's baseball games and attending Hannah's dance performances. Most of all Gary was a loving husband, father, and papa and will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.
Gary is survived by his wife Wendy; his sons Bryan Hunt (Beth) and Brent Hunt; his siblings, Jimmy Hunt (Anita), Bobby Hunt (Carol), Carol Hunt Edwards (Randy), and Martie "Cry Baby" Smith (Hank); his in-laws Gary and Margaret Jennings; a brother-in-law John Jennings (Stacey); and very special grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will also be missed by his faithful fur babies, Crickett and Mittens.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Lavina Hunt; a brother Ernest Hunt; a sister Beverly Hunt; a grandson Brian Hunt; and a brother-in-law Ritch Smith.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at PLAYERS Restaurant and Lounge Banquet Hall.
A private inurnment will take place earlier in the day in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
