Doris M. Zitzer, 74, passed away at St. Nicholas Hospital on Wednesday morning, December 26, 2007, with her family at her side.

Doris was born September 7, 1933 in Sheboygan to Fredrick and Leah (Harbach) Herman. She attended local schools.

In 1952 she married Ivan Wilcox, who preceded her in death.

On November 3, 1967 she married Henry Zitzer at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Mr. Zitzer, a long time employee of Hayssen Mfg. Co., preceded her in death on March 20, 2004.

Doris was employed at Troy Cleaners and Maple Lanes until she recently retired due to ill health.

She was a member of the Sheboygan Women's Bowling Association, which she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. In addition to bowling, Doris enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. Doris loved to assist young bowlers in learning the sport and served as an RCS bowling coach.

Doris was a sports enthusiast, and actively followed the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and local softball teams. She especially enjoyed attending softball games when her children and grandchildren were playing.

Survivors include seven children, Ernest Wilcox of Desert Hot Springs, California, David Wilcox of Sheboygan, Betty Lindsay of Abilene, Texas, Judith (Tim) Mertes, Shirley (Paul) Burns, Debra (Jeff) Hartmann, Diane (Edward) Poisson all of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alvina "Ruth" (Dennis) Post of Sheboygan; five brothers, Robert Herman, Richard (Rosemary) Hermann, Marvin (Carol) Herman all of Sheboygan, Clarence (Gerri) Herman of Polar, Wisconsin, Michael (Kathy) Herman of Omaha, Arkansas; and other family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Henry, Doris was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wilcox; and two brothers, Milton Herman and Walter Herman.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 6:00 P.M. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Dr. Steven J. Pedersen, Senior Pastor of Zion Covenant Church, will officiate. Entombment will take place in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorns on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service.
