Deceased was born in Indiana, in 1860(sic), and came to Illinois when he was eighteen months old. He married Miss Angeline Hayes, Jan. 26, 1862, at Long Point, Cumberland county, Illinois. Jan. 26, 1912, the couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Following their marriage they came to this city, where the groom was employed in the carpenter shop of the Wabash shops. Later he engaged in the contracting business, retiring five years ago. Mr. Whipple had been a resident of this city for the past fifty-two years.
Deceased is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. L. F. Irwin, 1729 South Sixth street; one son, Charles Whipple of Decatur; and four grand sons, William Irwin, Arthur Irwin, L. Irvwin, jr., and Leonard Irwin.
