Rex E. Morrison age 85 of the Calmer Community near Rison, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born September 12, 1922 in the Pansy Community, a son of the late Matt Alvah and Ruby Strait Morrison. Mr. Morrison graduated from Woodlawn High School in May 1941. He and his wife owned and operated Rex Morrison Grocery and Station for 46 years. Mr. Morrison served on the Woodlawn School Board for several years. He was one of the founding members of the Morrison Hunting Club where he was a member for over 65 years. Mr. Morrison was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jo Doster, Dixie Henderson, Virginia Ryburn; one brother, Ralph Morrison.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorene Reed Morrison of Calmer; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Rex and Nancy Reep Morrison of Calmer; one daughter and son-in law, Patricia Morrison Hillis and Larry Hillis of Dumas; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
