A note from the Morganton, NC, News-Herald, 20 June 1918:
"Home After Being in France."
"James W. Amos, a Morganton boy who has been in the service for three years, was at home for a short visit the past week. Young Amos, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. james Amos, spent from October last year to February in France. He was wounded in February and before recovering from the wound had fever and was sent back to the United States to recuperate. He expects to sail again soon."
