Graveside services for Mrs. Nellie Reese Grubbs Holt, age 90, of Alexander City and formerly of Loachapoka were held Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Loachapoka Cemetery in Loachapoka, Alabama. Randy Anderson officiated. The family received friends on Tuesday, December 25, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holt passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Chapman Healthcare. She was born in Tallapoosa County on November 24, 1917, to Bennie Grubbs and Vera Hardwick Grubbs.
She enjoyed quilting and supporting her family in their gospel singing. She loved taking care of her husband and family and collecting tea cups and bells.
She is survived by three sons: William Darwin Holt (Pat) of Tallassee, AL., Clyde W. Holt (Anita Gail) of New Site, and J. Mathan Holt (Jill) of Auburn, AL.; her grandchildren, Dwaine Holt (Sherrie), Wilford Lee Holt (Janet), Melanie Holt Garner, Kenneth J. Holt, Cara Holt Tidwell (Brandon), Caleb W. Holt (Corley), Joseph Holt, John Holt, and Wheat Holt; her great grandchildren, Dustin Holt (Jennifer), Taylor Holt, Joshua Garner, Allison Holt, Will Holt, Holt Tidwell, and Covyn Holt; one great-great grandchild, Hannah Caroline.
She was preceded in death by her birth parents, her parents William H. "Uncle Will" Leslie and Mollie Leslie, and her husband of 62 years, Sanford William Holt.
