"Edward Carter, age 68 of Murphy died on January 7, 2022.

He was a native and life long resident of Cherokee County. He was the son of the late Hubert Carter and Lura Carter.

Edward was a beloved Pastor and had worked at Baker Furniture. At the age of 9 he asked Christ to be his Savior and lived his life with the purpose of glorifying his Lord. He dearly loved his family, friends, and church. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, and raising cattle.

Edward is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Gail Carter, son Michael Carter and wife Davian of Murphy; daughter Amanda Cornett and husband Phillip of Norwood; brother Charles Carter of Murphy; six grandchildren Jacob, Isaac, Alexsis, Will, Eliana, and Sara; and two great grandchildren Brantley and Olivia; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rev. Kenneth Dockery will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Jacob, Isaac, Kevin, and Brian Carter, Jordan Shook, and Wayne Dockery. Honorary pallbearers are all his nephews.

Mr. Carter will lie in state from 12 pm to 2 pm, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church until the service hour.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
