Obituary:
John Addison Baxter Palmer, 77, husband of Martha Joiner Palmer, died Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Born in Sumter, SC, John was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia Smith Palmer, Jr. He graduated from Edmunds High School (1962), received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Washington and Lee University (1966) and his Master's in Business Administration from Emory University (1967). John graduated from the United States Naval Officer Candidate School in 1967 and served in the United States Navy for two years, earning an honorable discharge in 1969.

After working as a CPA for four years, John joined Springs Industries and began a 30-year career with Springs Global, retiring as Senior Vice President of Finance in 2004.

John was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville and always maintained a relationship with Trinity Episcopal Church on Edisto Island.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by three children, John Palmer, Jr. (Elaine Dasher), Heather Large (David), Katie Cate (Joseph); seven grandchildren, Rebecca Palmer, Jack Palmer, Joshua Large, Ryan Large, Lindsey Large, Addison Cate, and Caroline Cate; three brothers, Joseph Palmer, III (Mary Ann), Porcher Palmer (Martha), and Thomas Palmer (Alice); and loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held later in Greenville with an interment service at Trinity Church on Edisto Island.
