Lisa Hart Willis, 60, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Dallas on October 1, 1958 to Hart and Terry Willis and grew up in Greenway Park. She graduated from the Hockaday School in 1976, and from Rice University, cum laude, in 1981, with degrees in music composition and entrepreneurship. While at Rice University, Lisa was a concert promoter and a member of the Rice Chorale and Brown College. She was Founder of The Houston Community of Composers and Performers/Houston Business Committee for the Arts. She began a career in public relations in 1984 and launched Willis Public Relations in 1988. She loved to help entrepreneurs develop their businesses.
Lisa was a founding member of The Ambassadors of The Dallas Council on World Affairs and The Junior Associates of the Dallas Museum of Art. She served as chairman of the board of directors of Big D Beat, Inc. benefiting the American Heart Association. Lisa also served as ball chairman of The Dallas Heart Ball in 1991. She was a member of the Women's Board of The Dallas Opera and the Junior League of Dallas. Lisa loved and promoted the Arts and was a gifted pianist and composer. A Francophile, Lisa spoke French fluently, having spent a summer abroad studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. She was gregarious and made friends easily.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, J. Hart Willis, Jr. She is survived by her mother Terry Willis, sister Terri Anna Williams, brother-in-law Ralph Williams, nephew Mitchell Williams, and niece Anna Brown. A private service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest.
