(1914 - 2007)

Elmer C. Rusch, age 93, of Country Care Assisted Living, Reedsville, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.

He was born on June 4, 1914, in the town of Rockland, son of the late William & Ida (Schmidt) Rusch. He married Anita Krueger on Dec. 4, 1954, at Zion United Methodist Church in Reedsville. Elmer and Anita celebrated 49 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in August 2004.

Elmer graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agriculture Short Course and farmed in the town of Rockland. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was active in the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau for many years.

He is survived by a sister: Dorothy Archibald of Hurley, New Mexico; two sisters-in-law: Esther Krueger of California and Bernadine Rusch of Green Bay; a brother-in-law: John Conway of Spokane, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters: Erna and Lila; and four brothers: Herman, Aron, Bill, and Warren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion. The Rev. Susan Safford-Gaul will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Evergreen Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Dec. 28, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.. The Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville is assisting the Rusch family with arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Bob and Carol Lowe for their tireless efforts in helping to care for Elmer, and their friendship. Also to all who visited, sent cards, and remembered Elmer in any way, especially the staff at Country Care and Aurora Hospice for their compassionate care.
