Funeral services for Mrs Grace Mims Allums, 65, widow of the late Dr. William Benjamin Allums, who died 5:40 pm Friday at her residence at 1128 Janther Place after a long illness, will be held at 4 pm Saturday in Osborn chapel. The rites will be conducted by Dr. Guy M Hicks, pastor of First Methodist Church. Interment will be in Forest Park cemetery. Active pallbearers will be A.S. Dunkelman, James Mims Brooks Talton, Dr. Lorraine Allums, Rush Allums, Christ Johns, Leland Mims, and J.L. Sullivan. Mrs Allums was a sister of Dr. Mary Mims, well known Louisiana educator and sociologist. She was past president of the medical auxiliary of the Shreveport Medical Society, past vice president of the Fourth District Federation of Women's Clubs, and past president of the Southern Literary Club. Mrs. Allums was also a member of the First Methodist Church, as well as the Women' Society of Christian Services. She was a native of Webster Parish and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1929. Surviving are a son, Dr William Mims Allums of Shreveport; three sisters, Dr. Mims and Miss Lela Mims, both of Shreveport; and Mrs F.W. Scott of Kingston; two brothers, Sam Mims of Washington D.C. and H.B. Mims of Haughton Lake, Mich.; a grandson, William Mims Allums Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
