Donald was born in Jenkinsville, SC, the son of William Harts and Elizabeth Mae Jones, and attended McCrorey-Liston High School. He moved to Connecticut in 1977, back to South Carolina in 2004, and then to Georgia in 2018. During his life, he was fortunate to have had several careers and was employed as an Armed Guard for both Loomis and Argus Security, for CRT where he supported the Meals On Wheels program serving food to those who were in need, for Lexington/Richland School District 5 as a custodian, and most notably, and what he was most proud of, was the owner of Bell's Cleaning Service in Irmo, SC.

Donald was faithful and devoted in his role as a husband, provider, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His heart overflowed with love and kindness for all who knew him. He embraced each opportunity to make lasting memories with those he knew and loved. When his children were younger, he would often take them kite flying; and when it would snow, he would take them out to shovel driveways for other people, especially their grandparents. Afterwards, they would enjoy warm oatmeal and hot cocoa together, something they always looked forward to. He inspired his children to serve others and encouraged them to be responsible and learn the value of earning their own money. He enjoyed spending time with his children and nephew DJ to help them successfully complete their paper routes in East Hartford, CT, a place he loved.

Donald was a devoted Christian and had a close and personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. He previously served as a Deacon at Greater Saint Paul Baptist Church of Deliverance as well as Greater Bible Way. In his free time, you could find him washing his car, watching the news, or listening to some of his favorite Gospel music. He especially enjoyed listening to Cooling Water, by Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's and enjoyed watching movies, especially "Life" and "Gone Fishing". Donald was a great cook and had a real passion for grilling. Some of his favorite meals to prepare were BBQ Ribs, turkey wings, and chicken wings, neck bones, crab legs, and shrimp. He was a sports enthusiast, and he loved boxing, football, and basketball. The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors were two of his favorite NBA teams. He loved watching basketball with his daughter and making jokes. Donald was also a major fan and supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks and proudly represented their colors of Garnet (Red) and Black.

The passing of Donald will leave a permanent ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Along with his devoted wife and soulmate, Julie, who lost a part of

herself when he passed, he leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Joshua R W Bell and his wife Angel of Douglasville, GA, and Donald J. Bell Jr. and his wife Nicole of East Hartford; his daughter, Shavonah N. Bell of Gorham, ME, and his granddaughter, who he had a true and very special love for, Kayleigh A S Bell of Douglasville, GA; his sisters, Eddie Mae Wilson of Jenkinsville, SC and Catherine Nesbitt of Manchester, CT, as well as many other dear relatives and friends
