OBITUARY: Ola Francis Dowdle of Melbourne, AR, daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie Moss Hendrix was born January 19, 1915 at Fifty Six, AR. She died Dec. 18, 1998, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, AR, at the age of 78 years. Ola married Cecil Dowdle on April 22, 1933 in Melbourne and to this union five children were born. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Doshialain Sherrell of Melbourne, and Sherry Garrison of Batesville; two sons, Jack Dowdle of Mount Pleasant and Rick Dowdle of Melbourne: one brother, Geams Hendrix of Washington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, four sisters, and two brothers. Services were December 20, 1993 in the First Baptist Church at Melbourne with Doyne Robertson and J.R. Tinkle officiating. Pallbearers were Lanny Garrison, Lane Garrison, Keith Henry, Paul Womack, Donald Cartwright and Doyce Sartin. Honorary pallbearers were Gus Sanchez, Boyce Larie, Slim Weatherspoon, Shannon Womack, and Bob Langston. Interment was at Combs Cemetery with Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne in charge.
