Wilma Whitaker, 91, of Paris died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, in the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Moore, the Rev. Jerry Moore and Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born July 1, 1913, in the Rawhide community (now Belk) of Lamar County, to William Franklin and Pearl E. Hearon Moore. She graduated from Paris High School and married Elmer Whitaker on Nov. 22, 1931, in Unity Church with the Rev. J. W. Milligan officiating. They owned and operated Paris Hide and Fur Company for many years. She volunteered for over 20 years for the auxilliary of St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of the Berean Bible Club and First Baptist Church for 68 years and its Senior Adult 6 Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Whitaker on Jan. 19, 1984; her parents; a daughter, Gloria Sue Jennings; her son, Neil Whitaker; and four brothers, E. L. Moore, E. T. Moore, Lloyd Moore and W. C. Moore.
She is survived by her daughter, Nan Rose of Paris, five grandchildren, Renee Wright of Paris, Kim Rose of Mesquite, Rob Rose of Davies, Fla., Randy Rose of Red Oak and Rusty Rose of Reno; great-grandchildren, Jonee Wright, John Neil Wright, Robin and Rhonda Rose-Cowlishaw, Noah, Seth and Adam Lahman, Mark Calloway, Lexus Rose, Sarah, Heather, Russell and Autumn Rose; two great-great-grandchildren, Cayman Cowlishaw and Zack Tinney; two sisters, Jane Parson and Clara Stephens of Direct; and a daughter-in-law, Juanita Whitaker of Paris.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Wright, Rob Rose, Randy Rose, Rusty Rose, John Neil Wright and Noah Lahman.
Honorary pallbearers are Seth Lahman, Adam Lahman, Russell Rose and Zack Tinney.
If desired, memorials may be made to Direct Baptist Church.
