Birth.
Alfred Sheehan, son of David John Sheehan and Diana Sheehan, formerly Smith, was born on 27 February 1876, at Ship Street Barracks (behind Dublin Castle) Dublin
His father was a Serjeant in the Army Hospital Corps.
His parents were married in Colchester in 1864

were also former pupils of the School.
He became a pupil at The Royal Hibernian Military School, Phoenix Park, Dublin, from where upon completion of his primary education, he joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He subsequently transferred to The Lincolnshire Regiment in 1891, and to The Leicestershire Regiment as a Lance Serjeant in March 1909, from which he was discharged in October 1909 with 20 years service.
He was a career Tailor, but had served in the Lincolnshire Regiment during the Nile Expedition of 1898, at the Battle of the Atbara River (7 April 1898) and at the Battle of Omdurman (2 September 1898).
His brother William also served in the Nile Expedition.
Alfred married in late 1910, at West Ham, London [Alice Shaw ?]
He was recalled for home service on 27 January 1915 to the Lincolnshire Regiment, and restored in rank.
He died at Usworth Camp, Durham, from self inflicted injuries.
He left a widow and two children.
His name is included in the supplementary list of
