In 1951, she graduated from Anita High School and soon married Charles A. Robinson in 1952. They had two sons James and Thomas. In 1969, they put down roots in Petersburg, IN, where they found a strong sense of community to raise their family. After earning her Associates Degree in Business from Vincennes University, Jasper in 1986, Marilyn returned to Anita, IA in 1987. In 2004 she moved to Decatur, IL to be near her son's family (Tom, daughter-in-law Danette, and grandchildren Brittany and Kirstin). Marilyn resided there until her passing. Through the years, Marilyn was active in local United Methodist Churches, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and served on numerous community organizations.
Marilyn was preceded in her death by her parents Burl and Carrie Roots, son James Robinson, brother Ronald Roots, sister-in-law Karma Roots, twin sister Marjorie Karns, and brother-in-law Donald Karns.
Marilyn is survived by son Tom (Danette) Robinson; granddaughters Brittany and Kirstin Robinson; nieces Jackie (Doug) Kluver and Becky (Steve) Hagen; nephews Larry (Judy) Roots, Doug (Deb) Karns, and Roger (Chantel) Karns.
A family grave side service will precede burial at Walnut Hills Cemetery, Petersburg, IN, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, Inc. of Oakland City, IN is entrusted with care.
