Sacramento, California - Harry David Johnson passed peacefully on December 22, 2021 in Sacramento, California. He was born on June 30, 1948 to Harry W. and Marjorie L. Johnson in Aberdeen,Washington. Proceeded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Erin (Gary) Ochoa and grandchildren, Kirsten Castro, JonEthan, Liberty and Ranger Ochoa, step daughter Tracy Gee, grandchildren Justin and Allison Gee; sisters Margo (Ken) Munk and M'Lisse (Richard) Rich, many nieces and nephews and their families.
Harry's family moved to West Sacramento area in 1949. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1966. He served his country in the United States Army, 784th Transportation Company from 1967-1970. While in the Army he spent 1968-1969 in Viet Nam as a sergeant operating a supply boat up and down the Mekong River.
Harry began work with the County of Sacramento in 1974 as a heavy equipment operator working on many road and stream projects throughout Sacramento County. During part of his time with the county he served as the shop steward for Local 39, Operating Engineers. Harry retired from the county in 2006 after 32 years of service.
Then the fun part of Harry's life began. He worked as the Macy's Santa Claus in San Francisco in 2010. Then he joined an organization called Naturally Santa's based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He and Barbara would work from mid-November until Christmas in various locations in California and Arizona including six years at the Merced Mall in Merced, California.
Harry always had a strong interest in cars and trucks so he worked as a docent at the California Automobile Museum for a number of years. He always enjoyed traveling with Barbara in their fifth wheel rig as well as a number of cruise ship trips to various destinations.
A private internment will be held at East lawn Cemetery on January 10, 2021.
