Michael Allen Wheaton, age 28 of Goldsboro, North Carolina died suddenly on Thursday night, December 30, 2021 when struck by a westbound Norfolk Southern Railroad train. He was born on Friday, January 1, 1993 to Roger and Betty Ann (Hiers) Wheaton.

Michael was a graduate of White County High School. He enjoyed playing sports such as baseball, football, and basketball. He also loved to fish. He was a father, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend. His smile could light up a room. He could make anyone laugh regardless if it was intentional or not. He was genuine and will be missed by many.

He leaves behind his beautiful little boy: Marshall; his father: Roger Wheaton and his mother: Betty Ann Shively; sisters: Haily Shively and Deboraj (Isaih) Wheaton; nephews: Jordan, Jamarius, Kyler, and Karter; maternal grandparents: Roy and Debra Hiers; great-grandmother: Virginia Barnes; aunt: Christina (Dennis) Fry; uncles: Robert Hiers and Donnie Hiers.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother: Robert Allen Wheaton and step-father: Dale Shively.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, Tennessee. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery with Michael buried next to his big brother Robert.
