Matthew Williams, Sr., 81, of Axton, passed away, January 6, 2022 at his residence. Born December 6, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Charlie Williams, Sr. and Mable Carter Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Martin Williams; a daughter, Rev. Valerie Williams; three sons, Matthew Williams, Jr., Kennedy Lee Williams (Sheilah) and Gary Williams; three sisters, Joyce Martin (Samuel), Tiny Wooding (Ernest) of and Judy Wilson (Rodger); two brothers, David Williams (Maggie) of and Udell Williams (Ruth); a host of other relatives. He was also predeceased by four sisters, Bernice Williams, Dottie Hairston, Thelma McKenzie and Bonnie Carter; three brothers, Randolph Williams, Coy Williams and Charlie Williams, Jr.
Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
