Bernita L. "Memom" Porter, 93, of Louisville, Illinois passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Bernita was born September 1, 1928, at Rinard, Illinois to Berlie Hawkins and Edna (Spriggs) Barnfield. She married Henry L. Porter April 12, 1947, at Morganfield, Kentucky. He preceded her in death February 15, 2012.

Bernita retired as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Clay County Hospital having worked twenty-five years. She retired this past year after serving sixty as custodian at Red Brush Christian Church. She loved to square dance and garden. She had been a member of Red Brush Christian Church at Louisville, Illinois over seventy-four years...

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Henry, daughter-in-law Rita Porter, brothers John, Howard, Harry, Freddy, sisters Vera Case, Thelma Case, Junie Harrell, and Dorothy Daugherty, half-brothers and sisters Paul, Curtis, Burl, Lillian Bayes, and Ruth Carey.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 10, 2022, at Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville, Illinois. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday at the church. Burial will be at Red Brush Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Red Brush Christian Church Funeral Meal Fund and will be accepted at the service or at the funeral home.
