Mary Lou Medina, 72, was called to Heaven by our Lord and Savior on January 4, 2022 in her home surrounded by family and lots of love. Mary Lou was born June 25, 1949 and grew up with her 12 bothers and sisters in Gatesville, Texas.

Mary Lou lived a beautiful, happy life. Being a mom to her children and "Nanny" to her grandchildren, watching them grow up, and supporting them in all of their endeavors was the highlight of her life. All of those that had the pleasure to know her, loved her, and she loved each of them as her own. Her love for Jesus was contagious and you couldn't help but feel the presence of the Lord when she was near.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Cruz and Elida Avila; sister Adela Garcia; sister Lupe Curiel; brother Jesse Avila; sister Frances Soliz; sister Lucie Sharp; brother Pablo Avila; niece Vanessa Vanlandingham; and nephew Jimmy John Avila.

She is survived by her husband, Bernabe Medina; son, Valdie Martinez and wife, Deedra; daughter Jessica Mees and husband, Neil; daughter Jonie Markum and husband, Gary; daughter Veranica Walker and husband, Marvin. She is also survived by her siblings: sister, Sylvia Rivera; sister, Gloria Cardenas; sister, Rosa Morgan; sister Juanita Fonseca; sister, Tomas Piña; brother, Mike Avila and multiple nieces and nephews. Mary Lou leaves in love her grandchildren Clay, Taylor, Bailey, Desirae, Siera, Cody, Madison, and five great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mary Lou will be Thursday, January 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm, on Friday, January 7 with a burial service to follow at East Greenwood Cemetery.
