Maxine gave her life to Christ at a young age. She was baptized at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Pine Bluff, AR under the leadership of Reverend Hunter. She graduated from Coleman High School in 1952.
In 1960, Maxine moved to New York, NY. She became a member of Shiloh Disciples of Christ from 1961 until her return to Arkansas in 1974 when she reunited with now Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. God then placed her at Unity Temple COGIC under the late Lincoln Clardy. She served diligently in the ministry of intercessory prayer, vacation bible school, and hospitality. In 2019, she joined St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR under the leadership of Pastor Phillip Pointer until the Lord called her home on December 29, 2021.
While in New York, Maxine met and later married Jimmie Butler on June 12, 1965. They raised two children and were married for 52 years.
Maxine took pride being a Histology Technician working in the lab. She started off at Montefiore Hospital in New York. When she moved back to Pine Bluff, she used her lab experience at JRMC and NCTR. After retiring, she wanted to help families and children. She earned her accreditation to become a Lay Therapy Specialist working with the Children's Advocacy Center of Arkansas SCAN department. Through her work leading families back to each other she also led her Christian duty to lead families to the Lord.
Maxine enjoyed working in her yard, making ceramics, constructing floral arrangements, and spending time with her family. More than anything, she was passionate about sharing the love of God. Her love for the Lord drove her to embrace people and she never met a stranger. She would feed any hungry person, clothe those that were in need and gave of her substance, doing it all as unto the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Butler, daughter Darlene E. Taylor, father and mother Thomas J. Frasure and Matilda Frasure Boyd, her sisters Mathonia Frasure and Shirley Rochell, and her brothers Charlie, James, and Carnell Frasure.
To cherish her memories, she leaves behind a son Andrew (Crystal) Butler of Lexington, SC; grand-son DeJon (Kacey) Butler of Ankeny, IA; grand-daughters Andrea Butler of Pine Bluff, AR and Audreuna Butler of Lexington, SC; four great grand-children Malachi, Aiden, and Kingston Butler and Messiah King; and sister-in-law Catherine Frasure of Augusta, GA; god-daughter Vicki Clark, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
