James was born on August 16, 1944 in Chiboygen, Wisconsin. He is the son of the late, Kenneth and Florence Douglas.

James is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Douglas; daughter, Shelly Douglas; stepson and daughter-in-law, Darryll and Tricia Hanson; grandchildren, Devon Hanson, Delaney Hanson, Sienna Linn, Steven and Celeste Pugh; great-grandchildren, Alicia Pugh, Amber Pugh, Jaden Pugh, Ona Pugh, Jude Linn, Lennon Linn, Stella Lorey; and four great-great-grandchildren.
