Shirley grew up in a US Air Force family traveling to many countries as well as across the United States before settling in central Florida. While in central Florida she met the love of her life John Howard Morris. They married on December 24,1969 and shared 40 wonderful years together until his death on September 11, 2010.
Together Shirley and John had three sons, John Joseph Morris of Bennett, CO, Mark Daniel Morris (Melissa Dawn Morris) of Topeka, KS, and Jason Alan Morris of Topeka, KS. Shirley has three beautiful granddaughters, Kathryn Marie Morris, Amelia Valen Hawley-Morris, Danica Annelise Morris, and a beautiful great-granddaughter Ella James Motes, all of Topeka. She is also survived by nieces Jennifer and Ashley Stewart, Necole Weed, and nephew Donald Morris Jr.
She enjoyed interacting with others during her time in retail and patient care at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL.
Shirley was an avid seller on Ebay, loved reading books, and relied strongly on her faith in God in everything she did in life. Nothing brought a smile to her face more than to teach her children about Jesus and helping them to have a relationship with him. She cherished the smiling faces of all her children and being a grandmother to all her beautiful grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents and her husband John. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the community.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
