Obituary for Kenneth Moody
Kenneth Moody, 60, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born February 9, 1961, in Oskaloosa, the son of Robert and Shirley Ann Smith Moody. He graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High School with the class of 1979. On September 19, 1987, he was united in marriage to Jeannie Beeman at Indianola, Iowa. Together they shared 34 years of marriage until Jeannie's passing on December 11, 2021.

Early on Ken worked at Bernstein's Salvage Yard in Oskaloosa. Following high school graduation, he continued working there until the yard closed. Upon the closure of Bernstein's, Ken bought his own truck and hauled the foundry sand from Clow. He owned and operated Ken Moody Hauling until ill health forced him to retire in April of 2018. In addition to hauling foundry sand, Ken always had an eye for scrapping. The many years he spent in Bernstein's Salvage Yard gave him the knowledge and love of scrapping.

He loved to work in his shop with his boys cutting iron and fixing projects. He also enjoyed working on the track and attending races at the Southern Iowa Speedway with his dad. He also enjoyed traveling and often talked about his trip to Yellowstone. He was a member of the Beacon United Methodist Church.

Kenny is survived by his children: Nathan (Valerie) Moody of Oskaloosa, and Aharon (Hannah) Moody of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren: Emily Moody, Andrew Moody and Logan Moody; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Moody; his parents, grandparents; and a sister Sandra Moody.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will take place in the Beacon Cemetery in Beacon, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Friday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives.
