Loving cousin it is heartbreaking to know that you are gone.

Memories shared at her Celebration of Life 22 May 2022.

Barb planned her own service and wrote her obituary. At least 5 years ago she told her daughter Sara that she wanted her to sing "Our Father" at her funeral. Barb then looked at her daughter and said, "Good Luck with that." Sara sang it beautifully. She said she had been practicing for a long time and could sing it in her sleep. When she was falling apart after her mom's death, Sara said her wise beyond years teenage son told her, "don't be sad Mom, Nonnie is where she wants to be, with Jesus." After many struggles in life, Barb came to know Jesus and spoke about him with family and friends. Many people spoke about her strong enduring faith. She loved her children and grandchildren. A friend spoke about her painting sets and props for Vacation Bible School. That was her gift to share. Susan shared that she loved to see the process of her creating a painting. From sketch to final painting. Friend Brenda said she saw Barb sitting alone on the beach one day, Brenda went over to talk to Barb and that was the start of a long friendship and a relationship with the Sojourn Church. A neighbor talked about Barb's love of her puppy. Barb told me about the puppy and how she helped out with watching the pup and taking it to vet appointments. Barb was happy to help out and was thankful that it was not her puppy. All that energy needed, but oh how the puppy made her laugh. A friend came over after I spoke about talking to Barb in the evening for an extended amount of time. Barb and I had many common interests, one of which was talking about genealogy. She digested the material that I sent her and asked thoughtful, insightful questions that I had not considered. Barb's friend stated that after talking to me, Barb would call her very late at night. We laughed about the length of the phone calls. Barb did have difficulty sleeping at night and with those late phone calls or late painting nights she would sleep in until noon on some days. Someone else mentioned her love of learning. She spoke to me about getting history books from the library and connected what she was reading to the time periods of our ancestors. The fresh flowers at the memorial where gorgeous and lovingly arranged by family and friends. Barb picked out her cemetery plot location for many reasons. She was on the route that family would be traveling to get to Traverse City, so it would be very easy to drop by and see her. She is buried in Paradise... Paradise Township. Evergreen Cemetery has beautiful trees. Sister Linda gave Sara an angel to watch over her final earthly resting place, although we all know that her spirit is with her Lord.
