Clarence Edward Wadkins, 83, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, at his home.

He was born November 21, 1924 at Dewey, Oklahoma to James Albert and Vurby (Brettlinger) Wadkins.

He attended school in Dewey until moving to Coffeyville with his family where he completed his education.

He was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Infantry as a forward scout. At the time of his discharge he was a SGT.

Mr. Wadkins was a machinist, working at Continental Can, Olin Dixon, and Funk Manufacturing.

On April 11, 1961 he married Emma Beeson at Coffeyville, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. She preceded him in death in January 2005.

He was a member of the John Birch Society, the DAV, VFW, and American Legion.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet Egermeier (Richie) of Coffeyville, KS; two sisters, Shirley Owen and Marge Breese both of Coffeyville, KS; six grandchildren, Brandi Monson of Independence, KS, Claire Lossner of Coffeyville, KS, Bryan Holler of Davis, OK, Emma Archer of Fresno, CA, Melissa Wilmoth and Matthew Egermeirer, both of Coffeyville, KS; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; two brothers, Bill Wadkins and Dallas Wadkins, and one sister, Hattie Tipton.

Graveside services will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville, Kansas, with military honors by the VFW and the American Legion.
