A funeral service for Mr. Michael Travis (Mike) Patterson, 77, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 9, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA with Deacon Bill Goss officiating. Private family burial will follow in St. Paschal Catholic Cemetery in West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until time of service. Michael Travis (Mike) Patterson passed away of natural causes on January 6, 2022, at his home in Swartz, LA. Mike was born in Orange, TX in 1944 and moved to Monroe at a young age where he attended Neville High School. In 1967, he married Dorothy Kay Fox, his beloved wife of 54 years, and they lived in Swartz since 1980. Mike worked as a pipefitter for Summit Construction Company and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #659 over the years and spent most of his workdays in a paper mill. Mike was a devoted father and husband who coached girls' softball for the Monroe Girls Softball League for over 20 years enriching the lives of hundreds of young women. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, George Nelson Patterson and Marie Travis Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kay Fox Patterson; his siblings, George Nelson Patterson, Jr. of New Orleans and Carol Patterson Feagle of Branford, FL; his children, Lynn Patterson Bowers and her husband Chris of Mesquite, TX, Travis Patterson and his wife Emily of Pleasanton, CA, and Jan Patterson Schmitt and her husband Douglas of Pineville, LA. He had 7 grandchildren: Melissa Rushing, Alexandra Schmitt, Ethan Schmitt, Payton Bowers, Emma Kate Schmitt, Ella Patterson, and Jake Patterson.
