Born August 16, 1928, in Hondo, he was the youngest son of William Henry and Lola Belle (Dutton) Embrey. He lived in Hondo most of his life, owning a Sigmor Shamrock Station in the early 1970's and the Embrey Texaco & Goodyear & Firestone Tire later in that decade and beyond.
Pudro, as he was known to family and friends, attended schools in Hondo, was a letterman on the Hondo Owls Football Squad who were the Conference Champions, District 37-A in 1946 and was a lifelong Owl supporter. He was an avid bowler and a loyal Houston Astros fan.
He volunteered for the United States Air Force on Sept. 1, 1950 and was assigned for duty at Lackland Air Force Base in 1951. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on Oct. 30, 1953.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hondo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: brothers, Roy (1911-1937), Charlie (1913-2008), Joe (1921-2018) and John Henry (1926-1958), and sisters, Margie Abbott (1908-1981), Fanny Robertson (1915-1991), Mary Belle Magers (1919-2013) and Margaret Elizabeth Embrey (1930-1933).
He is survived by many nephews and nieces and their offspring.
Graveside services were held at the Hondo Cemetery, in the family plot in the Woodmen of the World Section, at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 14. Arrangements with Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, Hondo.
