William Timothy "Tim" Harper, age 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 after his fight with cancer for many years. Born in Nash County, NC on July 11, 1939, he was the son of the late William Green Harper and Madelyn Holland Boone. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Herbert Boone; his sister, Delios H. Churchill; and his son-in-law, Scott Wood.

At a young age, Tim stood up on the church bench to ring the church bell. He served his country in the Air Force for four years and the Marines for four years, he was a dedicated Marine. After the Marines, he joined the Rocky Mount Police Department in 1964 to 1974. After that, he worked at Nash County as a Deputy Sherriff until 1991. Tim enjoyed BBQ pig for birthdays and parties. He loved taking his boat out with special buddies to fish as long as it did not get dark. Tim enjoyed hunting and shooting at the gun range. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Tim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Lola Breedlove Harper; his special nurse-daughter, Pam H. Wood (Scott); his loving granddaughter, Amber Wood (David); his brothers, Dr. Tommy Harper (Linda) of Goldsboro and Joe Harper of Nashville; and many nieces and nephews. Tim has Marines family and the last word he would say to the Marines is Semple Fi. He loved all his family and his friends!

A Graveside Service to celebrate Tim's life will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chris Fowler officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
