Born in Pleasant Mount, daughter of the late Jesse and Dorothy Soden Rude, she was a graduate of Pleasant Mount High School. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a cake decorator in the bakery department at Price Chopper Supermarket, Scranton. She was previously employed as a seamstress at various dress factories in the Forest City area and at Gentex Corp., Simpson. She loved sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Also surviving are two daughters: Nina Hubal and husband George, Ararat Twp.; Carina Howell and husband James Howell, State College; five grandchildren: Ashley Hubal and husband Brian Supsic; Jessica Hubal and companion Nick Felter; Alyssa Hubal; Henry Howell; Cora Howell; two sisters: Joan Burkard and Lorraine Branning, both of Honesdale; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Jay Freeman Howell; three sisters: Esther Radford; Jeanette Patten; Marion Taylor; and a brother: Charles Rude.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Center. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
