Christy Lopes "Dink" Phillips, 47, of Muncy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Christy was born on January 5, 1974 in Rochester (Beaver County), PA to Chris and Trudy Lopes.

She graduated from Berwick Area Senior High School, class of 1992. She continued her education at Bloomsburg University where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She then continued on to earn her Master's degree in Education from Wilkes University.

Christy began her 24 year teaching career in Burlington, NC at Alexander Wilson Elementary School. One of her greatest joys was being crafty and decorating her classroom to create the most colorful and enjoyable experience for her students. One of her most memorable moments was when several students from her very first kindergarten class returned to visit her 13 years later as graduating seniors. After teaching in North Carolina for 15 years, her family moved back to Pennsylvania and she continued her love of teaching at Curtin Intermediate School in Williamsport. Over the years she created life-long friendships that she valued and held dear to her heart.

Those cherishing her memory are her two children: Christian (21 years) and Cara (18 years) Bossley, whom she loved and adored; husband, Gary Phillips; parents Chris and Trudy Lopes; a sister, Allyson Del Vecchio and her husband Michael, and nieces, Gabrielle and Ginabella Del Vechhio.

Christy's health took an unexpected turn which led to a month long battle after receiving her second dose of the vaccine. She fought valiantly to the end.

Christy was a beloved daughter, sister, Mom, and wife. She will alway and forever be cherished in the hearts of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date so that stories, love, and laughter can be shared by all.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hughesville Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, Inc., 5069 Route 220 Highway, Hughesville. To share a condolence or memory with her family, please visit www.hughesvillefuneralhome.com
