Brenda Joyce Barnes Bryant was born in Jasper, Texas on October 20, 1951, to the late Tatt Charles Barnes and Beatrice (Williams) Barnes.

Brenda, educated in the Jasper Independent School System, graduated from Jasper High School in 1970. She continued her education journey at Prairie View A & M University where she received a B.A. degree in Elementary Education in 1973. Employed as an educator of students with special needs, she was very conscientious in serving her students with dignity, respect and true compassion. Her career as a teacher amassed 40+ years of service as an educator in the Corpus Christi Independent School District and the Jasper Independent School District.

At an early age, Brenda accepted her Lord and Savior and united with the Dixie Baptist Church. She developed a passion for singing that flourished as she became older. She was a member of the Dixie Baptist Church youth choir until she left for college.

On December 29, 1973, she married Walter Ray Bryant and to this blessed union two children were born– Brandon and Tiffany. Upon the family's relocation to Corpus Christi, her family united with St. Matthew Baptist Church where she was a very active member of the choir and youth department. During her time of residence in Corpus Christi, she also served as an officer of the NAACP designed to make a difference in the fight against racial disparities.

Upon retirement, she and her husband relocated to Jasper, Texas where they became members of her childhood church, The Dixie Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully served as director of the choirs and in teaching capacities. Her avid love of The Word was evident in her teaching of Sunday School lessons and Mission Circle lessons. Wherever she was needed to be of service, she was willing to serve.

She was preceded in death by her parents, T.C. and Beatrice Barnes, her husband, Walter Ray Bryant, and her grandson, Jaimon Bryant.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories a son, Brandon Bryant of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a daughter Tiffany Limbrick (Jamie) of Jasper, Texas; two brothers-Gene Barnes; Walter Brumley (Tiffany) of Jasper, Texas; two sisters-Carolyn Barnes of Jasper, Texas; Charlesetta Wright (Al) of Port Arthur, Texas; two aunts—Charlene Hafford of Jasper, Texas; Vinnie Traylor of Pearland, Texas; six grandchildren; and one God child. Brenda will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
