Mr. James Robert "Bobby" Dixon, 82 of Blackshear, passed away late Tuesday evening, January 4, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Blackshear, GA on January 22, 1939, he had lived in Brantley and Pierce Counties all of his life. Mr. Bobby ran Groover Oil for several years prior to owning and operating Dixon's Service Station which he ran for almost 40 years. He always enjoyed taking care of his customers and their children and must have given out not telling how many pieces of bubble gum and fireball candy over the years. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Bobby enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting. It was his passion for hunting that ran deepest for he had been very active with the Cow Bone Hunting club for many years and so enjoyed helping people get involved with hunting. Hosting cookouts for family and friends was also a joy for him. Mr. Bobby was of the Baptist faith.

He was a son of the late Leroy Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann "Patsy" Davis Dixon; two sisters, Lucy Dixon and Violet Dixon; two brothers, Bud Dixon and Kenny Dixon; and a niece, Lindee Dixon.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert, Jr. & Tammy Dixon of Blackshear; his girlfriend, Linda Bennett of Blackshear; his mother, Ruby Dickerson Dixon of Blackshear; two sisters, Dale (Hardy) Thornton of Blackshear and Dot Dixon McKinnon of Bickley; a brother, Morris Dixon of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, Charlie Davis of Blackshear; a grandchild, Hope (Donnie) Howell; 6 great grandsons, Austin Morris, Braden Morris, Payton Howell, Landon Howell, Judson Howell, and Kolton Howell; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service for Mr. Dixon will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, at 6 pm from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6 on Monday afternoon.
