Born August 3, 1951, in McConnellsburg, PA, he was son of the late Houston J Richards, Sr. and Blanche E (Deshong) Richards.
Don was a 1970 graduate of McConnellsburg High School and attended Penn State College. He worked at JLG and JerrDan as a CNC Programmer. He loved softball and coached a team for many years. He was a writer and author of several books that have been published. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who couldn't wait to see pappy.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sarah A (Sweeney) Richards. His four children; Patty A (Tim) Todd, Kathy S (Mike) Poper, Charles B (Denise) Richards and Crystal D Richards. He has 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Houston (Jimmy) Richards, Jr., Jim Woods and 2 sisters; June Zeis, JoAnn Harmon.
He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Floyd Meyers officiating. Arrangements by Fries Funeral Home Inc. Mercersburg, PA
