Katharine Marie (Carraway) Smith was born on October 8, 1947 in Frederick, Oklahoma to the late Frank D. and Ada Marie (Carraway) Johnson. She was raised by her mother and father Frank D. Johnson.

Katharine moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1954 with her family from Oklahoma. She attended Arsenal Technical High School.

Katharine professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.

Katharine was a home maker and worked at United Services, she loved to play her music and sing her songs. Katharine had a genuine love for dogs and had a heart of gold; she would help anyone she came in contact with.

Katharine is preceded in death by her parents; Ada and Frank Johnson, husband Nathaniel Smith, son Anthony W. Tyler, sister, Donna J. Young, brothers; Reggie Dow, Marcus Dow, father Frank Dow and a host of loved ones.

Katharine is survived by her children; Renee' D. (Anthony) Young, Tina M. Hampton, Emmanuel O. (Jamie) Smith, siblings; Lacy M. (Patricia) Johnson, Cody W. Johnson, Billy W. Dow, Mack Dow, Priscilla (Gerald) Thrower, Brenda Dow, Gwendolyn Dow, Alicia (Jerry) Bowie and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
