Sally A. Shipley, also known to her friends as "Sally O", 61, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2022. Sally was born on March 20, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Max and Patricia Oster.

Sally is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, John S. Shipley III and her son John Stiles Shipley IV; along with her sister, Susie Oster and nephew Alex Fairfax; and a host of other loving family members and caregivers. Sally is also survived by many great friends that she has met throughout her life: childhood, college, and her career.

She is preceded in death by her sister Valerie Wariner.

Sally was an avid photographer and animal lover. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. She was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 470. She enjoyed going to Cumberland Lake and was a huge UK Wildcats fan, but also cheered for U of L Cardinals. She had the most infectious smile and was always the life of the party.

She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with both a Bachelors and Masters degree. Her most recent passion was teaching Special Education in the Mercer County School system. Her students were like family to her.

The family is planning to have a Memorial Service at Simpsonville Baptist Church at a later date.
