Robert Edward Lee West of Berryville, Arkansas was born August 8, 1940, to Herbert and Osie (Freddie Gensman) West in Berryville. Robert passed away December 26, 2021, in Berryville at the age of 81.

Robert began his long career in banking working summers during his high school and college years at the First National Bank of North Arkansas. He became a full-time employee with the bank, after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a banking and finance degree, in June 1962 as a bookkeeper/teller. Robert held several positions throughout his career and eventually became the president in 1989 until his retirement in 2004. He also served on the bank board from 1985 to 2018. He successfully completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, WI.

Robert grew up in the First Christian Church of Berryville and most recently a member of Grandview Baptist Church of Berryville. Over the years, Robert served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder but his greatest role was that of a quiet servant of Christ, always willing to help those in need.
