Richard Dane Edwards, 81 of Hinton, W. Va. passed away December 31, 2021 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center in Huntington, W. Va. Born August 8, 1940 at True, W. Va., he was the son of the late Chester D. Edwards and Vera M. Meadows Edwards Miller. Dick was a 1958 graduate of Talcott High School and attended Beckley College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1961. Dick was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked in the Beckley, W. Va. office and serving as postmaster in both Ashland, Va. and Hinton. After retirement, he was an associate at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton for 27 years. Dick was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Hinton, where he taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir and served as a deacon. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Edwards. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Drema Richmond Edwards; three sons, R. Dane Edwards and wife, Sue of Rustburg, Va., David A. Edwards and wife, Sherri of Gardner, N. C. and Daniel B. Edwards and wife, Kristy of Ashland, Va.; one brother, George "Sonny" Edwards of Forest Hill, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Burial with military honors in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at Forest Hill.
