Rachel Mara Davis was born May 23, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on May 5, 2020 at 54 years old. She was the daughter of Eileen and Ellis Lebowitz and younger sister of Fran Sussman. Rachel also live in Illinois, Arizona and California. Rachel attended the University of Arizona for college, where she met her future husband Gregg Davis. After college the two were married. Gregg's job brought them to Northern California, where Rachel lived until her passing. While living in the Bay Area, Rachel went back to school to get her master's degree in teaching. Together Gregg and Rachel had a beautiful daughter Arielle and although their marriage ended, they spent the last 18 years co-parenting together. Our hearts are broken at Rachel's passing. She was a beloved mother, teacher and friend to many. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved tennis, cats, and most of all teaching. Rachel was bright and a beautiful soul that touched many lives, including her friends and students. She kept in touch over the years with many of her former students and they would frequently come back to visit her at Hoover Elementary School in Palo Alto, California, where she spent over 20 years teaching 3rd and 4th grade. She left an impression on them, advocated for them, but most important, believed in them. Rachel is survived by her mother Eileen, her sister Fran, brother-in-law Ron, niece, Hallie, nephew Jordan, ex-husband Gregg, his wife, Beth and their son Cody. Rachel and Gregg's daughter passed away at the age of 23 from a chronic disease on December 18, 2019. Our hope is Rachel is at peace and together with her daughter Arielle. She will never be forgotten and will be missed always.
