Evelyn "Susie" Gentry Miller of Sparta, NC passed away Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC.
Susie was born February 6th, 1956 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Edward Lee and Ruby Smith Gentry.
She retired from Alleghany County Schools where she taught Elementary Education. She was very active in her career as a teacher and community with many memberships to include NCDKG Teachers Society, NCRSP, NC Blue Bird Society, Advisory Board of Stone Mountain State Park, Alleghany Writers, Solid Rock Food Closet Board, Foothills Corvette Club. She received her National Board Teaching Certification and received recognition for being a NC Entomology Teacher of the year one year for her Bee Hive.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Tom Miller of the home; a son, Chris Miller and wife Christy of Sparta; a sister, Betty Ann Crouse and husband Junior of Glade Valley; four brothers: Wade Gentry of Galax, VA, Carroll Gentry and wife Melva of Ennice, Jimmy Gentry and wife Angie of Glade Valley, Bobby Gentry and wife jane of Ennice.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Susie will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 7th, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Sparta.
Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
