Mary Helen Lewis Singleton Capps, 87, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Johnston County on April 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Archie H. and Alma Toler Lewis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Denver Singleton and George Leon Capps.

Mary Helen is survived by her step-mother, Elizabeth Lewis; her children and their spouses, James R. and MaryAnn Singleton, Debra S. and Kenneth Bartlett, Wesley E. and Phyliss Singleton, and Robert M. and Nancy Singleton; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members that she loved very much.

Mary Helen worshipped her Lord and Savior at Salem United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member. Family was paramount to Mary Helen, she loved each one of her family members dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Mary Helen's life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Becky Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the Christian Caregivers of Goldsboro.
