Janice Lee (Mitchell) White
May 17, 1935 - December 6, 2021

Modesto, California - Janice Lee White (Mitchell), 86, of Modesto passed away Monday in her home. Mrs. White was born in Sonora, California, the daughter of John Richard and Virginia Ann Cavalieri Mitchell and was preceded in death by her sisters Diane V. Muckel and Phyllis F. Timko.

After graduating from Hayward High School in May 1952, she went to work for the Oakland Tribune as a "commercial reporter" – writing classified advertisements.
Mrs. White was a devoted wife and mother. She and her beloved husband James (Jim) were married November 7, 1953, and celebrated their 53rd Anniversary, prior to his passing in August 2007.

Mrs. White attended Modesto Junior College, studying Medical Records Technology. She received her AS Degree in 1978. She worked as a Medical Records Technician at Oak Valley and Modesto City Hospitals and Doctors Medical Center before retiring in April 1997.
Mrs. White was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid book collector and reader. She was interested in history and other cultures and traveled widely.

Mrs. White is survived by her loving children Jeffrey W. White of Turlock; James M. and Beth White of Sanger; Julie and Dodge Hendee of Modesto; Jocelyn and Mark Kollasch of Vancouver Washington; Jennifer Brown and Jonathan White of Modesto. Her beloved grandchildren are Adam, Austin, and Andria White; Katelyn (Preston) McCullough; Ashlyn (Kyle) Neal, and James Patrick White; Christopher (Kristen), Jared (Jessica), Steven (Bianca), and Clayton (Luisa) Hendee; Carson and Lauren Kollasch; Jamie Nicole (Sean) Gerber; Andrew (David) Brown and Matthew Cardoso; great-grandchildren Laney McCullough; Brooke, Landon, Alexander, and Baby Hendee. She is also survived by her sister-in-law JoAnne White Brooks of Austin, Texas and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation and Rosary 3:45 – 6:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 29th at Franklin and Downs Chapel on McHenry Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec 30th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Road. Entombment at Lakewood Memorial Mausoleum in Hughson.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the St. Joseph's World Youth Day Fund.
