She married the love of her life, Glen Smith, on August 8, 1981. They established their home in South Austin and started a family-owned business. Soon they welcomed their only son, Casey, on April 20, 1985. Besides working in the family business, she also enjoyed cheering Casey on in racing and 4 H. Kathy was close to her mother Doris and took great care in making sure Doris's last years were the best they could be.
Kathy's most enduring and outstanding asset was the size of her heart. She made everyone she met feel like the most important person in the world. Her generosity for any celebration whether it was a birthday, a holiday or just an important event, was always thoughtful and unique. She loved to dote on her family and friends. Her eye for fashion and home décor was well respected. She loved finding just the right outfit, the perfect gift as well as just the right finishes to her beautiful homes on Brodie Lane and in Marble Falls. She was blessed to be able to buy a house on Lake Marble Falls. She loved that house! She loved decorating it for her family and sharing it with her friends. She loved visiting wineries, shopping and just relaxing at her lake house. Her final project was decorating Casey's new house. She took great pride and joy in completing that project. She was such an outstanding hostess that everyone looked forward to a celebration in her home.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Doris Miller, as well as her brother, Al Jr. She is survived by her husband, Glen and her son, Casey. She also leaves her brother, Stan (wife Cathy), her nieces, Cindy Lopez (husband Leo) and Paige Shoberg (husband Matt) and nephews Nick Miller (wife Stephanie) and Doug Miller (and family). She has many cousins and great nephews that will miss her dearly.
Kathy's final days were spent at Christopher House in Austin. This was just what she needed, and they treated her with compassion and respect. If interested, donations can be made to Christopher House at https://www.hospiceaustin.org/our-services/christopher-house/.
