Mrs. Tammy Jean Johnson, age 62, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Capital Region Medical Center. Tammy was born on November 19, 1959 in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Jerry Wayne and Noma Jean (Kirkland) Latham. She was married on April 29, 1978 in Eureka, Mo. to David Wayne Johnson who survives at the home. Tammy was a 1978 graduate of Pacific High School. David and Tammy moved to the Jefferson City area in 1982. She worked at several banking institutions over the years including Regions Bank and Central Bank, most recently working in real estate lending. Tammy was currently employed with Cole County Abstract as a Title Coordinator. Tammy enjoyed working with the members of the Home Builders Association where she attended the monthly meetings and holiday parties. She enjoyed meeting and networking with the area realtors and other members of the Jefferson City area loan institutions. Throughout her professional career, she strived to make strong connections and build lasting relationships with her clients and made many lifelong friendships in the process. Tammy loved being at her lake house going boating and making memories with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and could often be found engrossed in a good novel, especially fictional crime and anything written by Janet Evonovich. Tammy was a simple and loving woman. She was known for always having a fresh manicure and was proud to say that she did her nails herself. Most of all, Tammy cherished the time she spent with her grandsons, especially their Sunday dinner dates.
Survivors include: her loving husband, David; one son, Jeremy Johnson (wife, Jackie) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Denise Kucginski (husband, Joel) of Mountain Home, Ark.; her mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Johnson; two grandchildren, Ethan and Kyle Johnson of Jefferson City, Mo.; and her stepmother, Judy Latham of Salem, Ark. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Howard's Ridge Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the VFW Post 1003. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
