Leslie Leo Williams Jr., 85, our beloved father, brother, uncle and of course, poppa to many people, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12.
He was born July 10, 1935, in Beebe to Leslie Leo Williams Sr. and Nora Mae Hallmark Williams.
He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1953 and retired from Arkansas Power and Light in 1993 after 30 years of service.
Les was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years.
Les was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, as well as a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He always enjoyed taking the RV to the Razorbacks games with family and friends.
He never missed the annual camping trips with his family in the spring and also the annual camping trip in October for the Hallmark Family Reunion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Nora Mae Hallmark Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley Carolyn Williams of 64 years and his brother, Donald Williams
Les is survived by daughters, Debra Carolyn Hunt and Lezlie Faith Lovercheck of Jacksonville; a son, Charles Edmond Williams (Anne) from Charleston, S.C.; five grandchildren, Shawn Leslie Hunt (Mandy), Amber Nicole Mayfield (Billy), Jacob David Lovercheck (Hope), Emily Faith Lovercheck and Joshua David Williams; seven great-grandchildren, Laiken May (Zack), Kassie Brown, Darci Turbyfill, Carsen Hunt, Brinkley Hunt, Sarah Williams and Scarlet Williams; three great-great-grandchildren, Savvy May, Chancellor Brown and Benjamin Brown with one on the way, Kase May; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Brooks and Marsha Rainwater (Bob); his brother, James Williams (Jean) of Newport News, Va.; four sisters, Mary Lee Farris of Vilonia, Dorothy Flood of Jacksonville, Wanda Stewart (Dennis) of Fernley, Nev., and Rebecca Looper (Clinton) of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 W. Main St. in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 at First United Methodist Church, 308 W. Main St. in Jacksonville with internment to follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens, 8507 South Hwy. 161 in North Little Rock.
