"Nettie Wright, 96, of Murphy passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at her residence.
She was a native of Mule Head Bottom, east of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, but had lived in Cherokee County for most of her life. Nettie was a homemaker and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Nettie was a wonderful mother, she loved cooking, gardening, canning, and tending to her farm and all of the animals. Her children; daughters and sons-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren brought so much joy into her life. Nettie also never met a stranger and everyone loved her from the first moment they met her. She had many loving neighbors and friends. She loved using her hands to do the Lord's work, which later turned into one of her greatest ministries. Nettie would make many beautiful things, crocheting, sewing, painting, coloring, quilting. She was generous in giving away her eggs, delicious homemade buttermilk, butter, and crafts. Nettie loved to sing and always told such beautiful stories and shared precious memories of her life.
She was the daughter of the late C.D. and Laura Masterson Rogers and was the wife of the late James Roy "Red" Wright, who died August 15, 1991. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Charlotte Coker and Erma Walker; and four sons, Will, Timothy, Tony, and Robin Wright.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet Garrett and husband, Ernest of Blairsville, Georgia, Netta McFaddin and husband, Monte of Murphy, and Laura Morrow and husband, Jeff of Hope Mills, North Carolina; three sons, Donnie Wright, and Adam Wright and wife, Tammy, all of Murphy, and Tyrone Wright and wife, Valerie of Indiana; 28 grandchildren, and many great and great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 24 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Steve Ware officiating. The interment will be in Bell Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
