Elizabeth G. Russell, 93, passed away Sunday (Jan 2, 2022) at the Alice Center.

Elizabeth was born January 7, 1928, in Hogansburg, the daughter of the late John and Lena (Barnes) Sawatis.

Elizabeth united into marriage with David B. Russell, Jr. on November 25, 1946. He predeceased her on July 18, 1964. For many years she worked at Shields, Bombay, retiring from Brushton-Moira Schools in 1983 from the cafeteria department.

Elizabeth was devoted to her faith and loved to attend St. Mary's Church, Brushton, as well as St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Bombay. She was a member of the American Legion Post 939.

Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her son of Moira, her two daughters and their husbands, all of Moira. Along with 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren she is also survived by a lifelong companion Donald Snyder.

Her two sisters Beatrice White of Hogansburg, and Irene Johnson of St. Regis Quebec also survive her.

Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a son-in-law Ronald Deon, two grandson's Jason Deon, great-grandson Christopher Deon, three brothers John Sawatis, Harvey Sawatis, Bobby Sawatis and a sister Mary Sawatis.
